Every time comes from an instrumented test: Car and Driver’s own, except the Rimac Nevera’s, which is from Rimac’s record session, timed by Dewesoft and Racelogic (Racelogic read the quarter mile at 8.26 s). The times leave out the first foot of travel (the 1-ft rollout), as each source reports. Each source link opens the test. The 11 highlighted cars are also on our 3D drag strip, where they run on physics calibrated to these tests, so the strip’s times are simulated and land within a few percent of the real ones. We found Car and Driver’s 0-60 for the Ferrari SF90 Stradale but not its quarter mile, so that cell shows a dash.

What makes a car quick off the line

Traction. Below about 60 mph, most fast cars have more power than their tires can use. All-wheel drive splits the push across four tires, which is why nearly every car near the top of this list drives all four wheels. The rear-drive Corvette ZR1 is the quickest car here that drives only two.

Power to weight. Once the tires hook up, what counts is how many pounds each horsepower has to move. A Model S Plaid carries about 4.7 lb per hp; a Honda Civic Sport about 18.4. Work out any car’s ratio with the power-to-weight calculator.

Electric torque. An electric motor gives its full torque from a standstill and needs no gear changes, so EVs launch harder than their power suggests. The catch comes later: an EV can fade at high speed, so a gas car can catch up by the end of the quarter mile. The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is slower to 60 than the Lucid Air Sapphire but just as quick through the quarter, at a higher trap speed.

Questions

What is the fastest 0-60 car?

Of the cars on this list, the Rimac Nevera: 1.74 seconds to 60 mph in Rimac’s record session, timed by Dewesoft and Racelogic. The quickest cars in Car and Driver’s own tests are the 2025 Lucid Air Sapphire and 2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Weissach, at 1.9 seconds.

What is the fastest accelerating EV?

The Rimac Nevera is electric, so it leads here too. After it come the 2025 Lucid Air Sapphire and 2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Weissach at 1.9 seconds to 60 in Car and Driver’s tests. The quickest gas cars without a hybrid motor are the 2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport and 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, at 2.2 seconds.

What is the quickest truck or SUV to 60 mph?

Among the pickups here, the 2026 Rivian R1T Quad-Motor and 2024 Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast tie at 2.6 seconds to 60 mph (Rivian R1T Quad-Motor runs 10.6 seconds at 128 mph and Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast runs 11.0 seconds at 119 mph through the quarter mile) on this list. The quickest SUV on this list is the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, at 3.0 seconds.

Are 0-60 times measured with rollout?

Car and Driver’s times leave out the first foot of travel, called the rollout, as a drag strip’s timing lights do. Their tests print it on each result: for example, “Results above omit 1-ft rollout of 0.2 sec.” Rimac’s Nevera records used the same one-foot rollout. Counted from a true standstill, the tests on this page would read about 0.2 to 0.4 second slower, depending on the car.

What is the fastest quarter-mile car?

The Rimac Nevera, at 8.25 seconds in Rimac’s record session. In Car and Driver’s tests, the 2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport (161 mph) and 2025 Lucid Air Sapphire (155 mph) share the quickest quarter mile, 9.1 seconds.
