Three questions to ask the shop

  1. Which film brand, line and finish is it? These prices are for gloss, satin or matte film; chrome, color-shift and textured films can cost more.
  2. What exactly is included? Door jambs, removing badges and trim, and any paint repair can be priced on their own.
  3. What does the warranty cover, and for how long? Ask about the film and the install separately.

A roof, hood or chrome delete price that names no vehicle counts for every vehicle, so those columns change little from row to row.

What changes the price

Vehicle size

SUVs and trucks cost more than cars. The median full wrap is $3,200 for a sedan, $3,500 for an SUV, $4,000 for a pickup truck and $4,000 for a large SUV or van.

Film and finish

The prices above are for gloss, satin or matte film. Chrome, color-shift and textured films can cost more, but few shops publish their price: Galaxi Sound lists $2,800–$4,500 for a sedan in a standard color and $4,500–$6,500 in a specialty finish (chrome, satin metallic or color-shift). Compare colors and finishes in the car wrap colors guide. Paint protection film is a different, thicker film with its own prices: see what PPF is and what it costs. Specialty films are also rated to last fewer years: see how long a car wrap lasts.

Door jambs

A full-wrap price covers the outside, so the old color shows when a door opens. Mirror Image adds $500 per door jamb, and DrivenMN starts an exterior-only wrap at $2,800 and one with door jambs at $4,500.

Taking parts off

Some shops price by how much of the car comes apart for the wrap. First Class Detailing starts a color change at $4,000 without disassembly and at $5,500 with it.

From shop to shop

The same job, a full wrap on a sedan, is published from $2,100 at Auto Tint Express in Las Vegas, NV to $5,500 at Nomad of Nashville in Nashville, TN. Get two or three quotes from shops near you.

See the color before you pay

A wrap is a few thousand dollars, so see the color first. Try films on a photo of your own car, or on a 3D car in the car wrap visualizer. The vinyl wrap calculator works out how much film a job takes, and the Cybertruck wrap cost guide prices one truck in detail. When you’ve chosen, ask a local shop for a quote.

How these prices are made

WrapColor read the price lists that 43 wrap shops in 29 US metros publish on their own websites, from Los Angeles, Seattle and Phoenix to Dallas, Miami, Chicago, New York and Boston, and recorded each price with its page and the date it was checked. This is a sample of shops that post prices, not a survey of every shop. Nothing is estimated: a range is the middle half of those published prices and the median is the middle one, so every number shown is a price some shop publishes, rounded to the nearest dollar. “From” and “starting at” prices count as published.

Only color-change wraps count: no printed or commercial graphics, no paint protection film, and no sale prices. A price is placed by what its page says. A full-wrap price that names no vehicle counts as a compact car and a sedan, a roof, hood or chrome delete price that names none counts for every vehicle, and partial wraps and door jambs are left out of the table because shops price them in too many different ways.

Questions

How much does it cost to wrap a car?

In 43 shop price lists in 29 US metros, checked October 20, 2026, a full color-change wrap on a sedan in gloss, satin or matte film typically costs $2,800 to $3,800 (39 shops, median $3,200). A compact car or coupe typically costs $2,750 to $3,500, an SUV $3,200 to $4,500 and a pickup truck $3,500 to $5,000. Each range is the middle half of the prices those shops publish, rounded to the nearest dollar. Many are “starting at” prices, so a large or detailed car can cost more.

How much does it cost to wrap an SUV or a truck?

A full wrap on an SUV or crossover typically costs $3,200 to $4,500 (19 shops, median $3,500), a pickup truck $3,500 to $5,000 (18 shops) and a large SUV or van $3,800 to $5,500 (10 shops), in gloss, satin or matte film.

How much is a roof wrap, a hood wrap or a chrome delete?

On a sedan, a roof wrap typically costs $300 to $450 (11 shops), a hood wrap $275 to $400 (13 shops) and a full chrome delete $400 to $800 (14 shops).

Is my car wrap quote a fair price?

Compare it with what shops publish for the same job. A sedan’s full wrap typically costs $2,800 to $3,800, and the published prices run from $2,100 to $5,500. Type your quote into “Check a quote you got” above to see where it falls for your vehicle and coverage. Ask which film it is, whether door jambs are included and what the warranty covers.

Do door jambs cost extra?

At the shops that say, yes: a full-wrap price covers the outside, so the old color shows when a door opens. Mirror Image adds $500 per door jamb, and DrivenMN starts an exterior-only wrap at $2,800 and one with door jambs at $4,500. Shops price door jambs per door, per car or inside a higher total, so ask for them in the quote.

How much vinyl do I need to wrap a car?

It depends on the vehicle and how much of it you wrap. The vinyl wrap calculator works it out from a 3D model of the car, in feet, yards and rolls of 60-inch film.
