Motorcycle wraps
What a wrap shop covers on a sportbike, the films to choose from, what drives the price, and how long a wrap takes and lasts. A full vinyl wrap of a faired sportbike runs about $1,200 to $2,800, most often $1,500 to $2,500, in the guides and a Houston directory listing that price one Viking Bags, December 2025 Raxtify, March 2024 GearRiderHub, 2026 Metro Restyling, September 2025 VinylWrapPro, September 2025 WrapMatchPro, Houston, and the tank alone a few hundred dollars. The motorcycle wrap cost guide estimates yours by film, coverage and area.
What gets wrapped on a sportbike
A full wrap covers the bodywork: the upper cowl and nose, the side and lower fairings, the tank, the tail and the front fender. Careful shops take the fairings, tank, seat, mirrors and badges off and wrap each piece, and that teardown adds labor; a Houston directory listing calls it “massive” WrapMatchPro, Houston Western Signs, May 2025 Aluko Vinyl, October 2025. One guide warns that a low quote may rely on cutting around hardware instead of removing parts VinylWrapPro, September 2025. Film stays off hot parts: one seller says to keep it off surfaces above 200 °F, such as the engine cases and exhaust Rvinyl.
Shops and guides also price part of the bike: the tank alone, the fairings alone, or the tank and fairings. Each is on the cost guide. Wheels and helmets are separate jobs; one Utah shop quotes helmet wraps separately Summit Wraps.
Films
- Color change. Gloss, satin, matte and metallic vinyl. Gloss is the base price; one guide prices matte 10 to 15% over it, satin 10 to 20% and metallic 15 to 25% GearRiderHub, 2026.
- Color-shift and chrome. One shop prices chrome, carbon fiber, brushed metal or color-shift wraps at over $2,000 Western Signs, January 2026, and a guide puts chrome at 50 to 100% over gloss. The same guide expects chrome to last 3 to 5 years against 5 to 7 for gloss, matte or satin GearRiderHub, 2026.
- Printed graphics. A design printed on wrap film. One shop prices custom graphics at $1,200 to $1,800 against $600 to $1,000 for a basic color change Western Signs, January 2026, and two guides put custom-printed wraps at $15 to $20 per square foot without saying whether that includes installation Viking Bags, December 2025 YesWrap, March 2025. Design fees run $100 to $300 at one shop Interstate Image, May 2025.
- Paint protection film (PPF). Clear film that keeps the paint’s color and guards it against chips, or colored PPF that changes it. One California shop prices clear PPF on a full-fairing sport bike at $1,500 to $2,500, though its full-coverage section says $2,000 to $4,000 or more, and the tank alone at $300 to $500; it uses matte PPF on satin or matte paint Gilroy Blackout, January 2025. A film seller benchmarks a Yamaha R7 in clear PPF at $700 to $900 Aluko Vinyl, June 2026.
What drives the price
- Fairings and curves. A fully faired sportbike costs more than a naked bike: more pieces, vents and sharp curves Metro Restyling, September 2025 GearRiderHub, 2026 VinylWrapPro, September 2025. In a 2022 forum thread, one owner said his 2005 ZX-6R was quoted almost $3,000 “due to the angles and curves of the plastics”; the thread’s starter had a local quote of about $500 zx6r.com forum, October 2022.
- Taking it apart and putting it back. Each fairing usually comes off, is wrapped and goes back on. One guide calls that a labor premium for sport bikes GearRiderHub, 2026, and a Houston directory calls it massive labor WrapMatchPro, Houston. No shop we found charges for taking the fairings off separately.
- Film. Satin, matte, metallic and chrome cost more than gloss GearRiderHub, 2026, and printed designs add design fees Interstate Image, May 2025.
- Paint condition. Peeling clear coat, rust and rough repairs can show through, and some shops fix the paint first Interstate Image, May 2025 VinylWrapPro, September 2025.
- The shop. Shops in Salt Lake City and Mesa quote $700 to $1,500 or more and $800 to $1,500 (up to $2,500 or more for high-end jobs) for a full wrap, below most guides, and a Jacksonville shop gives $500 to $2,000 for any motorcycle job Interstate Image, May 2025 Western Signs, May 2025 201 Wrap. Taking off an old wrap adds $100 to $250 Raxtify, March 2024.
How long it takes
One Utah shop quotes 1 to 2 days to install, after 3 to 5 business days of design that comes with every one of its quotes Summit Wraps, and another 2 to 5 days at the shop Interstate Image, May 2025. One guide puts a full street bike at 6 to 12 hours of skilled labor, depending on how much comes off Aluko Vinyl, October 2025.
How long it lasts
Shops and guides say 5 to 7 years with premium vinyl installed well Summit Wraps Interstate Image, May 2025 Metro Restyling, September 2025, and others 3 to 5 years Western Signs, May 2025 YesWrap, March 2025. Unbranded film can bubble or fade in 1 to 3 years GearRiderHub, 2026. A tank wrap may show wear sooner because of the heat Rvinyl, and a film maker rates its color film far shorter on near-horizontal surfaces, 2 years against 10 on vertical ones in its mildest climate zone Avery Dennison SW900 data sheet, March 2026. The data sheet doesn’t mention motorcycles, but the top of a tank can count as such a surface. Clear PPF lasts 5 to 10 years Gilroy Blackout, January 2025 Monumental Workx Aluko Vinyl, June 2026.
Kits or an installed wrap
Vinyl for a full wrap costs about $200 to $600 if you do it yourself, plus $40 to $80 of tools GearRiderHub, 2026. Pre-printed full-bike kits sell for $399, or $439 with front-fender material BikeSkinz, and pre-cut PPF kits for the tank list at about $28 to $150, with tools and instructions for a DIY install the maker rates 2 of 5 for difficulty Lamin-x tank kits. An installed wrap costs more because of the hours: a skilled installer spends 6 to 12 hours on a full street bike Aluko Vinyl, October 2025, and installers charge $50 to $150 an hour 10KWraps, November 2024. Film makers’ warranties can depend on the installer: BikeSkinz’s Avery warranty applies only when an Avery-certified installer fits the kit BikeSkinz material specifications.
Care
Sun shortens a wrap’s life: one Utah shop says daily outdoor parking can cut it below its usual 5 to 7 years Summit Wraps. One guide recommends fuel-resistant film near the tank 10KWraps, February 2026. Repair damaged paint before wrapping: peeling clear coat or rust can show through Interstate Image, May 2025 VinylWrapPro, September 2025.
Helmet wraps
A helmet is wrapped on its own. One guide puts a professional helmet wrap at $300 to $500, custom graphics at $400 to $600, and chrome or carbon fiber film at $50 to $150 more YesWrap, August 2024. Another says custom wraps start at about $200 and bespoke work runs $500 to $600 It’s Better On The Road, August 2025. A printed helmet kit sells for $179 BikeSkinz helmet kit.
