Pontoon boat wraps

Try wrap colors on a 3D pontoon boat with three logs, our own model of the 22 to 24 foot class, before you book a shop. Below is what a pontoon wrap covers, what it typically costs, which films shops use and how long a wrap lasts.

What a pontoon wrap covers

The fence. A pontoon wrap usually means the fence: the panels along both sides YesWrap, August 2025. A Lake Havasu dealer wraps the outer fence panels and gate areas The Boat Brokers. No source we found wraps the inside of the fence. A film seller’s worked example puts a 22 foot fence 2.5 feet tall at 55 square feet a side, 110 square feet for both, and about 126.5 with 15% extra for trimming YesWrap, August 2025.

Sections or one long run. One sign shop sizes each section of the graphics to fit a flat panel Signs101 forum, May 2012. Kit sellers instead send one long piece for each side PickandStick DaVinci Wrap Masters. No installer we found says which is better, or whether gates are cut separately, so the 3D pontoon lets you pick the whole fence or each panel and gate.

Rivets and textured panels. A boat graphics shop advises cast film and a heat gun on textured fencing, and warns that calendered film will bridge gaps and lift IPD Boat Graphics, August 2026. It says to measure each panel as a separate piece and never to apply vinyl over corrosion, loose rivets or peeling factory graphics.

The skirting and the logs. No source we found prices the skirting under the deck. Wraps stay above the waterline: one shop says to avoid going below it unless the film is rated for continuous submersion IPD Boat Graphics, August 2026, and a custom kit is sold for the panels alone or the panels and the top of the pontoons IPD Boat Graphics. No shop we found prices the logs alone, and the “full” pontoon prices we found don’t say whether they include them.

What a pontoon wrap costs

Wrapping the whole fence of a 22 to 24 foot pontoon typically runs about $1,000 to $3,000 in gloss, satin or matte vinyl, and $1,700 to $5,100 in chrome, by our estimate from published prices. Part of the fence runs about $300 to $1,200.

A film seller puts a partial wrap of the fencing or select panels at $800 to $1,500 and a “full” professional pontoon wrap at $2,500 to $5,000 YesWrap, August 2025. A boat seller says installers charge $1,000 to $3,000 for typical pontoons Novielli Yachts, January 2025, and a Chicago shop prices a 20 foot pontoon at $3,500 to $6,500 Chicago Fleet Wraps, 2026. A Lake Havasu dealer charges $3,400 for 3M film on the outer fence and gates plus a heavy-duty PVC Pontoon Guard on the outer edge of the pontoon The Boat Brokers. Prices by film and area, other boats and how we estimate are in the boat wrap cost guide.

Films and finishes

For a solid color on a boat, members of a sign trade forum recommend 3M 1080 or 2080 color change film, with no laminate, kept above the static waterline Signs101 forum, February 2024. A Chicago shop says it uses only Avery MPI 1105 and 3M IJ180-CV3 with 3M 8518 laminate Chicago Fleet Wraps, 2026, and one kit seller prints on 3M cast film with a clear laminate PickandStick. An Australian shop, which gives no currency, says metallic and carbon fiber films can raise material costs by 40–60%, with chrome and holographic films the most expensive Omega Graphix, November 2025.

How long it lasts, and care

A film seller gives a pontoon wrap 3 to 5 years YesWrap, August 2025. Most shops and guides say 5 to 7 years for a wrap that is professionally specified and installed Ocean Wraps, 2026 guide IPD Boat Graphics, September 2026 Chicago Fleet Wraps, 2026. A boat graphics shop gives calendered film 2 to 4 years and chrome and color-shift 3 to 5 IPD Boat Graphics, August 2026. In the Sunbelt, on a boat left uncovered, a fishing magazine says it might only be two years Salt Water Sportsman, October 2023.

Wash with mild soap and water, and keep pressure washers away from the edges and seams IPD Boat Graphics, August 2026 YesWrap, August 2025. Keep the boat covered and out of the sun when you can. Skip traditional wax: a boat seller says to use a sealant or protectant made for wraps instead Novielli Yachts, January 2025, and a Chicago shop suggests a marine wax or sealant made for vinyl Chicago Fleet Wraps, 2026.

Doing it yourself

Stripe kits for the fence cost about $100 for four long and four short stripes Chicago Pontoon Parts FenceForPontoons PontoonStuff. Printed side kits, one piece per side, cost $799.99 and $829 for a 22 foot fence 24 inches tall PickandStick DaVinci Wrap Masters, and another seller lists printed pontoon kits at $199 to $599, sizes vary Struck N Design. A boat graphics shop cuts a kit for your model from $2,249 IPD Boat Graphics. One kit seller quotes a couple of hours to a day to put one on DaVinci Wrap Masters. A boat graphics shop says to take the old graphics and adhesive off first, and to apply above 50 °F out of direct midday sun IPD Boat Graphics, August 2026.

What to ask a shop

  • What the price covers: both sides, the gates, the skirting, the logs, and whether the inside of the fence is covered.
  • Which film and laminate, by name, and whether it is cast or calendered IPD Boat Graphics, September 2026.
  • Whether prep and removing old graphics are extra. One guide says oxidation or wax removal is often billed separately IPD Boat Graphics, September 2026.
  • How the edges are sealed. A Chicago shop uses a marine-grade primer-sealant Chicago Fleet Wraps, 2026.
  • The warranty, and what it covers. The Chicago shop gives 2 years on its workmanship Chicago Fleet Wraps, 2026; the Lake Havasu dealer gives 5 years with one full replacement The Boat Brokers.
